Where Have All The Manners Gone?

I try to be mannerly. Saying please and thank you is something I always try to do. I even say yes ma’am and yes sir fairly often. I have noticed that when I am on the phone in the call center and I use my best manners the customer is nicer. I don’t go overboard. But it is genuine, because I don’t think enough people are using their manners. I am sure it depends on how you were brought up. But even things like respect are getting lost in today’s world. When’s the last time you said “thank you” to the drive thru speaker box? When was the last time you said “yes sir” to someone who was helping you. I almost feel like when I say it that people haven’t heard it for so long it puts a little smile on their face. You know who really responds to manners? Airline personnel.

Where have all our manners gone? I know that most of the people that are probably reading this blog were taught some manners. Whether it was at home, school, church, a friend’s home or wherever manners were probably introduced to you at some point in your life. Let’s try and use some manners with each other. I think our society would benefit from more good manners from each of us.
