You never know when you might need Ft. Lauderdale storage units so you should look at what different units are available. Most everyone in Florida is now familiar with some of the basics of the storage industry. There was a time when very few people needed Ft. Lauderdale storage units but now almost everyone has a need for storage. Whether you are clearing out the garage or staging your home to sell, there are a few things that you should know before you begin calling for prices.
The first types of units to discuss are the drive up units. Drive up Ft. Lauderdale storage units are the absolute easiest to get to. They will save you a lot of time when you are storing because you will just be able to pull the rental truck right up to the unit. This is great if you storing a lot of stuff, but some people will prefer a drive up even if they are getting a small storage unit. You do not need to mess with going down hallways and up stairs. Keep in mind; you will probably pay a little more for the convenience.
There are some benefits to the Ft. Lauderdale storage units that are inside the building. First of all, this is typically where the climate controlled storage units will be located. There are some drive-up climate controlled spaces in Florida but they are kind of difficult to find. If you get an inside unit, you should ask the manager if you can rent one that is close to the entrance. That way, you do not need to walk very far into the building to get to your space. Some people feel that the inside units are more secure since criminals would need to break into the building before they would even be able to break into your unit. A drive up space is more convenient for you, but it is also more convenient for a criminal looking to steal your valuable. Flooding is also less likely with the inside spaces.
If you are looking save some money, you should look at Ft. Lauderdale storage units that are on an upper level. The price will typically be lower since they are less convenient to get to. The only thing is that you will want to make sure that the site has an elevator so you are able to get to the space without having to carry a lot of your things up flights of stairs. In a non climate controlled building, this would quite the workout.
There are also stack units. These are just units that are located on top of another unit. They are accessed with a ladder. This would not be a good choice if you are storing bigger items, but is a very cheap way to store small boxes and odds and ends. You should ask the manager if the site has any of these. The ceiling height will also be about four or five feet instead of the normal eight foot height that most storage units have. This is pretty much all of the different types of units. You should decide which would be best for you so you know what to ask about when you call in for prices for storage units at different facilities.
