Many times the secret shoppers are seen as the bad guys, who come in to try and make the subject of the shop look bad. But if you have set up your sales and service system so your staff people know what is expected, then your people should ace the shops. The shoppers are there to help your people implement the strategies and tactics that work and to help them get the bonuses you tie to the shopping evaluations.

After a while, your people may get to understand that the shopper is an ally and will help increase the paycheck and the success of the business. I know sometimes the shopping evaluations sting a little. But when your people do well, they will be recognized. So why not get recognized? Your staff should be concerned about how much bonus money they can make by doing great on shops, and not focusing on any unfairness they might perceive.
