Survey Says

  • One of the hottest things going on the Internet lately has been a lot of companies looking to survey people about all kinds of consumer products. It used to be that companies would look to panels and consumer groups for information about their products and services. Adding 800 numbers and addresses for people to call or write companies with their comments about their products have been going on for a long time. With the further mainstreaming of the Internet, companies are looking for people online to give them feedback.

Some people are willing to give feedback or comments to companies when asked for, while other people think they should be paid for taking a survey.

Some of the things that a business might ask on a paid survey are:

    Dining

Did you receive the correct order?
Was your food the correct temperature? (Cold foods are cold, etc)
Did your food look good on the plate?
    Did your food taste good?
    How was the service?
Did you receive your food in an appropriate amount of time?
    Was the establishment clean?
Were you greeted when you came in the door?
    Were the restrooms clean?

Department Stores, Box Stores or Malls

    Was the store tidy?
Were you able to find what you were looking for?
Was there a sales associate near by and available for questions?
    Were the fitting rooms clean?
    Were the restrooms clean?
Were you offered a credit card at checkout?

    Car Dealership or Automotive Repair

Was the salesperson friendly and knowledgeable about the vehicle in question?
Did the salesperson offer to let you look around, without pressure?
Were you informed about any current promotions or sales?
    Was the technician friendly?
Did the technician listen to what you were saying?
    Was the estimate correct?
Was the car available at the promised time?

Some businesses are offering a discount or free item when you call or go online after visiting one of their businesses and giving your feedback. This type of paid survey is a way for companies to gather information from regular people about the service and products they purchased. But, this is also a way for companies to acquire information like name, address and phone number from people. If you read the fine print, many of these companies that offer a paid survey will tell you that they sell your information. This is how the junk mail starts piling up by people buying lists and sending their advertisements through the mail or email. Some companies will state that they are not going to sell your information so look in the fine print before you start giving out your information. Some companies that do a paid survey are just using the information strictly for marketing purposes. It can be expensive to market your businesses product but offering a paid survey can often lessen the expense.

There are many companies out there today that offer surveys online for people to take. Some are paid, some are just looking for information. Chances are that most companies looking for information are not going to pay out lots of money. You will most likely be offered a percentage off your next visit or a small free item. This gets the company the information they want and they get you to go back and use your coupon or voucher.
