I stopped for a iced coffee today at one of my favorite coffee stops. There was a new guy behind the counter. He may have been nervous. It may have been his first day. But he did not smile. He actually frowned a few times. Oh my. I was patient with him ,because I have started a new job or two in my time. But smilling at customers is the first and last thing you must do. If it is the only thing you do, it wins you points.
In your evaluations and in your interactions, remember how important a smile is. It may be your most effective tool. It costs you nothing to use. And it makes the smiler feel better, too. So what is the problem? Let’s smile!
