All the fingers of a hand are not the same. It is the same with people too. There are hardly two people who are exactly the same, despite them being twins. They might look similar, but their mannerisms will never be the same. What has look alike and manners got to do in a topic where the main point of discussion is about the undercover spies who are paid to look after the wellbeing of a store? It is a known fact that most shop owners employ a secret shopper or two to keep an eye out on his business. These people are expected to survey the store and keep a watch for any discrepancies. If they notice anything that might be detrimental for the shop, they note down the same and pass on the information to the owner. This is what they are paid for.

There are instances when it is not feasible for a single secret shopper to keep an eye on a store. This holds true when the store in question happens to be a multistoried one. It will be impossible for the spy to keep an eye on all the floors at the same time. In such instances, multiple agents are employed by the owner. These spies are supposed to remain neutral and are required to provide an unbiased report, however, this is not always true. There have been instances when these agents carry over the quarrels of their home into the shops. They try to provoke the salespersons and make them angry.

Salespersons are also human beings and they too have a limited amount of patience. If they are pushed beyond a certain limit, they can get angry and this is what the spiteful secret shopper is waiting for. He will keep on pegging at the vendor without any rhyme or reason and when the salesperson loses his temper, this is noted down and reported to the owner of the store. This is not justified, but in most instances the spy wins. The owner is already wary of the salespersons in his store, otherwise he would not have employed the hidden surveyors. The spies know this and try to take full advantage of this situation. They might earn some bonus points by reporting an ill mannered vendor.

To address such situations, most shopkeepers install close circuit cameras. If the secret shopper is at fault, chances are that the action recorded by the camera will be able to prove the innocence of the salesperson. This type of behavior is just unbelievable. These spies are hired to rate the levels of efficiency of the salespersons and not to vilify them. If reported, these spies might well be chucked out from the organization they are working for. Once a person gets black listed, it is very difficult for them to get a foot hold in this business. Most of the employing agencies share notes with each other and news of the rotten apple spreads fast.

Any secret shopper should never do such things. They might have a day or two of glory, but sooner or later their misdeeds will be caught and then they will have no avenue to escape. They should stick to the rules and go about their task in a healthy manner. If you are facing a hard day, just report to your boss that you might not be able to attend on that day. Honesty pays.
