No stamps?
-
Welcome to the secret shopping blog.
This morning I went through the St. Louis airport. I had forgotten to leave my favorite pocket knife at home. I didn’t want to loose it at security. So I figured I’d mail it home. I have had to do this a time or two before. It was early in the day and the post office was closed. The stamp machines by the post office were all out of service. The gift shops had greeting card envelopes I could use to mail the knife, but they didn’t have any stamps for sale. Why would you not sel stamps in a store that sold things you can mail?
This makes about as much sense as not selling maps at a gas station, or not selling cold drinks at a grocery store. Go figure. Anyway I put my knife in my suitcase and checked the bag. This ruined my plan to carry everything on. This is a minor inconvenience for me, but a big error for the gift shops. They could attract more business and sell more cards, if they sold stamps.
And why would both postage vending machines be out of service? That was not helpful.
What are you not offering your customers that they need? What self service offerings don’t work for you?
