Welcome to the secret shopping blog, where we keep a journal of our involvement in the secret shopping world.
Yesterday I was observing all the little day-to-day things that we do here in the secret shopping office. I took a step back and looked at the processes we go through each month and thought about why we do them the way we do, and what we could change to make things faster and easier. I began adding things to my list throughout the day; by the end of the day I had quite a list. I had planned on bringing up a few ideas here and there with the secret shopping team.
Today our director had a meeting with us to touch base with some things, and to see how we could create more efficiency. It was a little eerie that he wanted to talk about the very thing I was thinking of the day before. I was a little stunned for a moment, and I swear I heard the music from the Twilight Zone. Wow! I must be psychic! Maybe there is some way I can market my newfound ability? If I could only predict the lotto numbers… So, I was prepared for the meeting, and had a few suggestions on where we could start improving things.
We began talking about how we could more efficiently get the calls done on time each month. Everyone had a few ideas, and we haven’t decided on one yet, but now we are thinking in that direction. We also went over a few other little details and revised the way we get things done.
Once we got our frame of mind on evaluating ourselves we came up with a list of things we would like to find a better way of doing. It was a little refreshing to just sit back and brainstorm about some new ways to do things and we got some great ideas. Sometimes we get in a rut, or do things just because that’s what we’ve always done. Evaluating the every day things lets us know what is working great and what we might be able to make more efficient.
As Tron says, “Sometimes we do a good thing without realizing we’re doing it.” So it can be refreshing and beneficial to review what things are working for you and what you could improve. I realized that I was doing a lot of little extra steps that added to my work, and kept me from getting done what I really needed to. (and if you want to pay me to read your palm I accept cash only )
Ta Ta for now…
