How do you go about getting a job as a shopper? Shopping is a function of service provided to the customer to help stores know how to provide better shopping experiences. Shopper positions are also known as shoppers of mystery positions. These companies provide mystery shopper employment to individuals willing to go somewhat incognito pretending to be regular shoppers on shopping trips. They give valuable feedback on how the store is laid out, how easy it is for them to find items they are shopping for and about their interaction with the staff. This mystery shopper employment is similar to taking an online survey, and is a great employment opportunity for a someone looking to make some extra money. Imagine stores being able to find out what the shopping experience they offer is like from a shopper going about their own daily routines. What better tool to get valuable feedback to improve on their own service than from shopping feedback? Virtually all service outcomes always improve in the long run when a store is in its best shape and employees are always expected to offer the best service possible. The quality service some firms provide is a cost effective way to make sure the service always stays at the top of its game. A shopping employer that provides mystery shopper employment can be a boom to stores or franchises looking to stay on top of their service concerns and keep customers coming back.

A shopper goes to a store and shops the employees so they never know when they are being evaluated and are motivated to always provide the best caliber of service to any and all shoppers. Any shopper that is paid is also motivated to consciously remain aware of his or her shopping experience in order to provide valuable feedback for assurance of quality purposes to improve their service the stores offer and to improve the shopping experience of future shoppers and the next mystery shopper. The employment market in turn is improved with tasks provided by those who may not have time for full time employment but who are interested in earning some kind of wage and who are concerned with the service that is provided.

The lifeblood of any corporation or retailer is maintaining the highest quality of service to the customer since return business and word of mouth advertising is the most valuable to help ensure shoppers come back. Competition is fierce in the retail world and corporations and other retailers are always concerned with providing the best shopping experience to their customers and staying ahead of their competitors with return business and also by attracting the business of direct competitors in their own respective industries. When the economy is volatile it is always a good idea to find a shopping employer who can employ a mystery shopper to provide shopping and evaluating skills to stores wanting to stay on top of their customer experience concerns. Assurance of quality service is also solidified for product quality for the manufacturing industry who may not always have access to feedback offered by direct consumers and end users. Shopping is another way to provide feedback to those industries who may not have a store front with face to face service to the customer, but who may be curious as to how their own products fare in the open markets.

Where has the service gone? Do we really want to go in to a place of business and not be greeted? Are the employees really being paid so low that they do not care about their job or their customers? As consumers do we really not care anymore about the service we get when we walk into a place of business.

It is sad that we have gotten so busy that we just walk in to a store get what we want and pay for it and then leave. We do not care if the cashier smiled or even said a word, as long as they are quick and we get out. What ever happened to hello or how are you? If a cashier asks, how you are, it is almost like they have wasted our time, we shrug them off and out the door we go.

Retail stores now think they are giving better service with their self-check out lines. Not dealing with human beings is considered better service? Doing it all yourself is better service? With self-check out the customer has to scan their own merchandise they have to bag it themselves put the money in the machine, there is no smile, or no hello, or no one to say thank you for shopping with us and have a nice day. And this is better service?

There are some people who do not mind this kind of service if that is what we are calling it. But there are still people out there who want the attention when they go in to a business. These people what to feel like they are the only customer in the store. They want to have small talk with the cashier and they are very happy when the sales clerk asks how they are doing. Those customers are more than likely to return to that place of business before going somewhere else.

Maybe service is just the way we should treat people. Or the way we expect to be treated in return. Probably more like the golden rule is to treat others the way you would want to be treated. And this really should be done at a place of business and at our own places of business. We should treat our co-workers and our employers the same way, with respect and consideration. We should smile at them and ask how they are today. If a supervisor or manager of a department asks one of their employees to do something it should be done with kindness not demand. Sometimes we get busy and someone above the supervisor needs something done so they snap at their employee to get it done not meaning to upset him or her. But we do not stop to think how we should say it or how we would want it said to us. Once again we are so busy we do not stop for the service, we just want it done.

It might be wise at this time to mention a service that most businesses can use to help with their service issues. Hiring a secret shopper is a great way for a business to evaluate their service and sales skills. A secret shopper can be an unbiased voice that can help showcase good skills and highlight not so good skills at the business. Businesses that are looking for a secret shopper can find information on the internet about hiring a secret shopper . Let us all make an effort to provide better service to our customers, our co-workers and each other and if hiring a secret shopper will help, do it!

With summer nearly here, there are many things your mind is probably going over already that you will wish to do. Swimming, camping, hiking, reading, sunbathing, taking walks, going out on the boat, fishing, and do not forget garage sale shopping ! If you are an experienced garage saler, you know that this is not just something that is done to find something useful. Many people who are seasoned salers have practically made an art of it! You might not have ever realized that there are actually techniques of the trade when it comes to both throwing garages sales and shopping at them.

If you have never thrown a garage sale and you are planning on doing so this summer, you need to know from the start that it will be fairly hard work. Fun, yes, but hard, too. It is almost like Christmas again as you get to go through all of your old junk and find things you have not seen in years. The first difficulty you will have to get through is deciding what you want to keep and what you want to sell. This is not as easy as it sounds. If you are not a naturally organized person, this part can be rather tricky. Also, if you are a sentimental person, as many are, it will not be easy to part with many of your things, slap a cheap price tag on them and watch strangers first rifle through them and then drive away with them.

The second difficult part of throwing a garage sale is simply the physical labor. Getting ready, running here and there, back and forth from your house to your garage or lawn and stacking piles of clothing, shoes and whatnot onto heavy and awkward tables that refuse to remain stable on your uneven grass. Just remember in all of your panic and stress, the people who will be shopping at your sale will not really care over much if your lawn does not look like the clearance aisle at Bloomingdales, if there is such a thing! Just organize it the best you can and make sure everything has a price tag.

If you have advertised ahead of time that you will have specific items, or if you have items that are large or of more interest, make sure they are very visible to the main stream of traffic, where ever it may be.

Another difficult thing to deal with when people are milling around and shopping in your yard is that, well, it is your yard. Be aware ahead of time that your grass will not look perfect after the day is through. A lot of times people try to place things strategically so that rummagers will stick to sidewalks or cement patios the majority of the time they are shopping .

A lot of people who go to garage sales have, as stated above, definitely made a kind of art of it. They know what they want and they know what they are willing to pay for it. Make sure that you know, ahead of time, the absolute lowest price you are willing to take to part with your sentimental treasures. Do not get offended or take it personally if someone offers you a lower price than what you have marked. This is what garage salers do, of course. And after all, that is why you are throwing the garage sale to begin with!

Where do you go to shop? Why do you shop there? Have you ever thought about helping the other companies achieve a higher level of customer service ? Most people have good service from a company and they do not share that experience with anyone else. How selfish is that, that they keep that great experience to themselves? Most people would tell five to ten friends or family, but if that is the case, why do so many companies fall short of the bar when it comes to customer service ?

Let us take a moment to think about the different people in our great nation. It is wonderful that everyone has the same point of view and the same likes and dislikes as their brother or sister American. Wait a minute, that is nowhere close to the truth! Everyone has his or her own opinion about almost everything under the sun. From what car to drive to how to style their hair, no one person is the same. With that said, why are most companies treating every customer the same? Do they really believe that one size fits all? That is so far from reality it is scary. However, reality is that most companies operate that way.

Right now in America, a big issue is about how health care should change for the whole nation. Some of the politics believe in the one-size fits all approach. Some companies can only offer their hard working employees one option in health coverage that cost the individual hundreds of dollars a month. Then, there are big companies that offer several choices with affordable costs. If the employee is being taken care of by the company, the employee, for the most part will take care of the company.

Your employees are the ones that face the customer more. The happier you make these people, the better your clients will rate the customer service they received. They will do whatever you ask of them and they will make those people they touch return to get great service. The way your company grows from year to year is to keep your current clients and to then add to that list. You have to, as a company, find a way to grow or you will die.

Let us return to the earlier questions. Where do you shop and why do you shop there? Most people like the atmosphere and how warm and inviting the place is for them. When they walk into some of these environments, they feel as if no other place they visit can compare. Some people feel when they are greeted by an associate and assisted, they are comfortable and willing to cooperate. Some people are not willing to give any information to the sales person because they do not feel they are genuinely there to help them. They believe their level of customer service is there just to put money into their own pockets.

If your company expects to stay in business, they need to have the highest level of customer service available to meet the needs of the variety of clients that they encounter. They need to determine how each customer has different needs and how to accommodate them. If you cannot do that as a company, you will not survive as your competition is doing everything necessary to grow year to year.

Self storage has become a very competitive industry. There are many parts of the country where it is not uncommon to see several different self storage facilities within a short distance of one another. And nowadays almost all self storage companies provide their customers with basically the same types of security and amenities. All self storage facilities have some kind of access panel so only customers can get into the area. They are equipped with door alarms and video cameras. And most locations usually have an onsite manager living on the property.

If two storage facilities are located very close to each other, and offer virtually the same amenities and prices, then what differentiates the two of them? It is the people. And the excellent customer service that these people provide.

Everyone is accustomed to okay customer service in this day and age. We see it everyday at the bank and the grocery store and the dry cleaners. If anyone was really rude or incompetent, then that would stand out in our minds. But as long as the customer service is all right, then everything is, well, okay.

The service at a top notch self storage facility needs to be more than just okay. That is what everyone has, and what every customer is expecting. Going above and beyond good, to excellent customer service, is what is going to bring about devoted customers. These elated tenants are the people that are going to rave about the self storage facility, tell their friends and families and coworkers how fantastic this location is. And all business people know that word of mouth is the best and the least expensive form of advertising available. Plus, these loyal customers will keep coming back to this self storage location anytime they need self storage, or boxes, or a rental truck, etc.

The only way to get employees with awesome skills is with awesome training. They need to first learn the very basics of their job, and to be able to do it almost in their sleep. They need to be familiar with how to use the computer and answer the phone and how much stuff will fit in a 10x10 self storage unit. Anything they do not know from memory they need to be able to find the answer to quickly. Nothing says poor service more than incompetence!

Once the employee is proficient and feels comfortable with their new position, then the training needs to go deeper.

The way to get the best possible customer service skills out of employees are through proper training. They need to be trained on the basics of their job, but the training needs to go deeper. They need to be taught the little intricacies that go along with it. Often these things are a learn as you go type of a thing. But even more often seasoned employees forget to mention it to the newbie. A written step by step check list needs to be gone over with new employees to be sure nothing vital has been neglected. And the list needs to be updated, as this is an ever changing industry.

Veteran employees also need to be periodically updated on new information. It is vital that everyone stays on the same page. Nothing says incompetence and poor service more than two employees saying different things.

Prices for everything in our economy seem to be going nowhere but up right now. With fuel, stamps and other things on the rise, it is becoming necessary to cut corners wherever you can. Grocery shopping is one area to do this in. There are several tips and guidelines to follow when making and executing your grocery list that can make all the difference.

Of course, there are the obvious coupons. These may seem like a too easy way to save money many times, but they are definitely worth it if you are willing to be diligent. Keep them in a safe place, put them all together, and check expiration dates regularly. A dollar here and there over a month or two can begin to make a decided difference in your grocery shopping budget.

If possible, shop in bulk. There are many grocery stores and bulk stores that offer foods in large quantities for drastically reduced prices. If you know you will need more than a box or two of something, why not buy it in bulk? You spend a bigger amount of money at the present, but in the long run, it ends up saving you in a very big way.

Do your homework by comparison shopping. Do not keep going to the same grocery store out of loyalty or convenience. If you have to go another mile or so to one that has significantly lower prices on the items that you consistently purchase, do not hesitate to do it! Spend that extra five minutes in the grocery store and find out what items you regularly buy are cheaper. Sometimes you may not have to switch grocery stores at all, just brands. Many times you buy a brand because you are familiar with it. There is nothing wrong with this, but if you look closely, many of the generic brands are almost exactly the same for a considerably different price. If you have to, take a notebook with you to the grocery store and mark down what brands are the best after you have compared them. Next time you visit the store, you will have an easy reference if your memory does not serve you.

It is easy to lose track of where you spend money if you do not budget ahead of time. Plan what you need, make lists, and buy it all at once, instead of small increments throughout the month. If you are generally always up to date on your budget, you will clearly know what you can spend when shopping for groceries. Depending on your pay period or when money is available to you, decide on one day of the month that you will purchase groceries. Have an extensive, well planned list ready, and shop away! When you shop only once or twice a month, it lets you have a better handle and on what you are spending. With only a couple of grocery receipts for the monthly budget, it is easier to get a visual of where your money is going, and if you can afford to spend more, or need to spend less.

One last thing to do that will help when grocery shopping is to plan your meals ahead of time. If you know every meal for every week of the month that you will have, or at least for a week at a time, you will basically already have your grocery list made for you.

With so many opportunities available being marketed to the thousands of people trying to find ways to make extra money online, it can be hard to determine what is legit and what is a scam. That is why you should ask certain questions before choosing paid survey work from among that vast array of opportunities. So what are the myths and the truths in these jobs?

Question One.
Is this a legitimate job?

Answer.
Literally hundreds of real marketing research companies are looking for people to give their opinions of products and services and they are willing to pay you incentives to get those opinions.

Question Two.
What are the subjects of the surveys?

Answer.
Anything can be a subject of a paid survey. Everything from movie reviews to what restaurant food you had to your favorite snack to medical questions. Some sites are set up for specific age groups, hobbies and interests or professions. The surveys are normally interesting and necessary for companies to develop their products.

Question Three.
How will it work?

Answer.
You sign up for the paid survey site, entering your personal data such as age and gender. When a survey comes available, you are invited to participate through a direct link. Click the link and take the survey to receive the incentive.

Question Four.
What types of incentives will I receive?

Answer.
Generally, incentives are for cash or gift certificates, for merchandise or charity donations. Merchandise can be any thing from DVDs to electronics to household products.

Question Five.
Is spamming involved?

Answer.
You will need to be careful of the sites where you register. Fake firms posing as survey sites will often ask for payment from you, ask way to many personal questions than are necessary for the survey, asks if you want information on other products, or the offer seems too good to be true, such as an incentive for cars or boats. Do your research. Legitimate market research companies do not endorse specific products or services since they are unbiased. Always read the privacy policy.

Question Six.
Do I need to pay for access to a database of paid survey sites?

Answer.
Never. You can find all the sites yourself without having to spend any money. Many free sites have good lists of directories with lots of listings. It is illegal for market research firms to charge people to take part in surveys.

Question Seven.
Will I get rich taking surveys?

Answer.
You probably will not. It is possible to make decent extra money or earn merchandise the key word being extra. You should not make it a full time career. The amount you do make depends on many factors. For instance, how many sites are you registered on? How often you take the surveys and the area you live in both relate to how much you will make. Most people will earn between one dollar and 10 dollars for a surveys. There are a rare few sites that will pay up to two hundreds dollars. You can make enough to enjoy a family night out or buy a few extra items for your home or family.

Paid survey jobs are a good way to earn extra cash, enjoy free merchandise before it becomes available on the market and help manufacturers produce better products. When thinking of signing up for a survey site to earn extra money, ask yourself these questions to get through all the hype.

As a business owner, we sometimes do not know what we are doing. Let us be honest, we should be grateful that there is help out there for those who need it. As business owners, most of us try to figure things out on our own and that results in a bigger loss that we maybe have imagined. For example, how do we coach and train our associates when we are not there as often and we have a ton of other responsibilities? We try to rely on our managers or supervisors, but then who is seeing and hearing what they do. Well that is why secret shopping came into being and is a gift from heaven. Think about it. It is the only real way we can get in the moment coachings, trainings, and feedback. How awesome is that?

Secret shopping is impartial and accurate. Some of us are great with detail and some are not. Unfortunately, we all know that sometimes there is some favoritism in our workplace and this service helps to eliminate that. Secret shopping has many different faces. Some companies use the service in terms of an agent walking into a business establishment and interacting with an associate in your stores. They go through the motions and act as if they are interested in the product that you sell. Then they get out of the sale in some way, document the interaction and give great feedback that can help the associate and the business. Another method of shop used is over the phone. This is where they call your business and they are looking for that great phone presence, presentation and performance. They fill out a form that the business has approved that flows through the call and should result in a sale. These forms are then sent to the business owner and then their associate is once again evaluated, and then sent to the business owner. One of the last topics of secret shopping that will be discussed here is feedback shops. In the previous mentions, the associate is never aware (unless they have a keen sense) that they are being shopped. This new version of the service actually allows the shopper to give instant feedback after the call.

Feedback shops are, in most opinions, the best method of secret shopping. In most other methods, the manager gets the print out of what the employee needs to work on or a CD of the call. Sometimes the associate has to wait weeks after they are evaluated by the agents. In that time, those associates have already helped maybe, on a great month, over 100 potential clients or customers. Then they receive that feedback that they have been waiting for. With feedback shops, the associates receive real time feedback that they can then turn around and use on the next call they receive or the customer they interact with in person.

Secret shopping, in any industry, can greatly help your business. With the amount of new talent that we hire as business owners, we cannot stress enough the importance of making sure they are properly trained and their performance managed. This service is a gift for us trying to manage our staff effectively in terms of service. The detail and the feedback that is provided to us is great and we can use that to better our business. We honestly could do a great job on our own and try to manage our staff through out own methods, but why not relieve some of the stress we put on ourselves and have someone else do some of the work for us?

If you are a stay at home mom, you understand the necessity of coming up with a constant flow of activities, games, or whatever works, to keep your children happy and satisfied. Even if you are not a stay at home mom, but a mom who works and has to entertain your children in the evenings after school and work are over, you might find some of these suggestions helpful.

First of all, try not to think purely entertainment, if at all possible. A stay at home mom will know that with all the hours of the day that your kids are with you, if you are trying to continuously keep up with them and feed into their desire for amusement, it can become impossible. Instead, take control and find activities that are both useful and educational. If you plan them right, your children will not even realize they are being taught anything at all. For instance, most children love the opportunity to help out in the kitchen. Use this excitement in your kids to take some of the weight off of yourself. Teach them to make their own sandwiches for lunch. Teach them, with strict supervision, to make cookies or brownies for a snack. This is a great learning opportunity for them, and it helps you to get things done that are necessary, that you might not have had the time for before.

Spend time outdoors as much as possible. Whenever the weather permits, take your children to the park, to a scenic place, or even in your own back yard. Throw an old blanket down and have a picnic together. Afterward, you can get some much needed relaxation lying in the sun while watching your children play.

Crafts are also a good way to get children actively involved in educational and useful playing. Crafts help children learn how to put things together, they help with your childs hand eye coordination, cognitive organization skills, and creativity. And best of all, they are just plain fun! There are limitless numbers of crafts you can do with your children. Look online for ideas, or check out books at the library to get detailed instructions on different kinds of crafts.

If you are a stay at home mom and you have daytime hours available to you, you have probably already realized the great opportunity this is to visit the public library with your children. Reading is one of the greatest things you can teach your children to love, and much of this starts with a good and memorable experience at the library, starting at a very young age. Most libraries have special kids areas that are stocked with child sized tables and shelves, toys and movies, and books about anything your child could dream of. If you have hours to spend away some afternoon or are a stay at home mom, this is the ideal activity for you and your children to do.

One important thing to avoid, which a stay at home mom might find very tempting in day to day life, is too much television. This goes for mom and kids both. Television may be extremely interesting and even very educational for children, but it also greatly takes away from the quality time that you and your children can have learning things together. It is time that you will never get back again, time you will regret not having taken advantage of later on down the road.

Do not overly stress about planning perfect activities for your children. Children are easily entertained, and many times can amuse themselves. Just remember, instead, to cherish whatever time you have while they are still young!
