Many people like to go to the mall or one of their favorite stores and see what is out there. They want to do some window shopping and check out the latest fashions to see if they can keep up with what is new. They want to be able to engage in conversations that would talk about what is currently out. Window shopping is never a bad thing unless you are unable to control yourself and buy whatever you see in the window. For those with self control, spend as much time as you need to look through the window, imagine yourself having that item and then of course potentially getting it.

When you are shopping around for self storage, many customers do a drive by of the facility. Online the company has made their facilities look so great and taken the best pictures in the best lighting, but what does the facility look like and how are they ran on a day to day basis. You want to make sure that they are not just putting their best foot forward for you on the internet, they are leaving their foot out there no matter what day. It is your job to ensure that what you are seeing through the window is what you need.

It is comical sometimes when a manager is shocked when the customer they spoke to comes into their facility after they talk to them over the phone. Over the phone the manager made the facilities seem so great so now the customer wants to see that everything said is accurate. Basically the property manager gets to put its storage where its mouth is. If the manager can do that then the customer will most likely rent because they drove by and saw what you had to offer as well as spoke to you. Now they are in the office, that sale is a good as made. What about those customers that don’t call first they just do a drive by of the facility and make judgments?

This is why it is crucial for store managers to keep their facility looking good at all times. If you have it in your budget to put a fresh coat of paint on some buildings please do so. If you have grass that is growing out of control, please cut it. Customers don’t want it to look like they are going to rent in a jungle. There are countless other things you could do if the customer just decided to drive by and see what you looked like. In addition to just your appearance, the customer is window shopping the area they are renting in and also how long it takes to get there. The customer is doing all of this just with one simple drive by. They will have a list of storage facilities that they want to drop by and see. Is yours on the list? Is how the customer view you so great that when they are window shopping they instantly want to pull in and see what you are all about? These are some things to think about.

There is a little game that is played between customer and business when it comes to getting that customer to buy from that one business. No one wants to be sneak attacked and lied to or the wool pulled over their eyes. Some facilities do not put a lot of their information online so that the customer has to call or drop by to see them. They have lured the customer into their storage trap.

There are some websites now that compare and contrast multiple storage facilities at a time. That cuts down the searching around option they were doing before. On one website they put everything about the storage facilities in one area. The customer can look at prices and see what makes one facility’s prices higher than another facility. So if a storage facility does not make a strong online presence, the customer could just pass them up which would leave the storage facility high and dry. They would then have to find other methods to get the customer to come into their doors.

Having everything about the storage facilities you are looking at in one places has revolutionized the self storage world because most of those sites allow you to reserve a space. Not only will you be able to see all there is about the facility, you can also hold a space on the site until you are able to go down. That is a great feature so that you have a chance to compare if all the website was saying about the facility is true. If it is not, you have held the space under no obligation so you are free to go back to your site and search around again. Some of these sites have the option to call them and they have someone do the searching for you as you relax. Shopping around for self storage has come a long way and it only seems to be changing by the moment. In no particular way are self storage facilities looking to not increase their profits year to year.
